Family Bike Ride!

May 29, 2013 | All, Family, Fun | 16 Comments

Over the weekend we decided to rent some bikes and take a nice family bike ride! We had such a blast and are now considering getting some bikes to ride on a regular basis. Riley loved it! It was a great way for us to all spend some time together and take in the nice weather. After the ride was over we decided to stop at a restaurant we’d never been to and get Β some drinks! To our surprise the restaurant had a drink named after Stephen (how cool is that?!) . He had a glass of himself (I can’t stop laughing) and I had a cool refreshing mock-tail. It was such a great day! Have you ever gone bike riding with your family? Feel free to share any cool adventurous family fun stories with me in the comments below!

Here are a few photos from our adventure. Enjoy!

  1. Looks like Riley had a GREAT time! The Bay Area has lots of beautiful bike trails. If you get your own bikes and a bike rack for the car, you’ll be able to go cruising all over the place. Wherever you went this weekend, it doesn’t look like there were many people around (nice) so you must have found a good spot.

  2. My family and I go bike riding all the time. My husband and I have our bikes and we have a toddler carrier attached to the back of my back. When my son was smaller, he would be the one in the carrier as we would bike along. I have a baby girl named Rylee also and she is 10 months old and for the time being, we feel she might still be a little small to be in the bike carrier, but maybe soon we will have her in the bike carrier as we go on our usual bike rides. My son is 3 now and has a small toddler bike with training wheels so we bike with him while my mom watches my little one. It’s a great way to spend such great quality time together and to get a little exercise. We don’t go too far since the little guy is still getting used to his bike, but once he gets the hang of it, we plan on going a little further each time.

  3. By the way you have such a beautiful family and I didn’t know Jack London had a bike rental shop?! I also live in the Bay Area, right next to Oakland, so I’m familiar with the place. If you get your own bikes, there is a great bike trail at a place called Marina Park in San Leandro which is by the water. That is where my family and I go bike riding and play at the parks n have picnics at times!

  4. I actually learned how to bike through family bike rides… My dad had a baby seat attached to his bike and then when I got older I had my bike with training wheels and then I slowly grew up. I’m 25 now and we still enjoy rides together! One of our favorites is the path from the San Leandro marina to the hayward shoreline/San Mateo bridge area. Enjoy your rides!

  5. There’s this cool place in I-80 Central Ave exit by Costco. Beautiful view of Golden Gate and Marin County and they also have this enormous off leash dog park. My family use to go biking every weekend atleast 30miles, but it change since we have busy schedule. Check out this place Ayesha! here’s the link: http://www.ebparks.org/parks/pt_isabel πŸ˜‰

  6. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE all hour blog posts! They give my boyfriend and I great family ideas to do with our little one who’s 9 months old. πŸ™‚

  7. I used to go bike riding as a kid in Golden Gate Park! I think they still close off the park on weekends, so you can always rent bikes and bike around there. πŸ™‚
